The team was established as an expansion franchise in 1962, one of eight teams that was created in the decade. The Astros in total have completed 61 seasons in Major League Baseball, qualifying for the postseason sixteen times and reaching the World Series five times (2005, 2017, 2019, 20) with two world championships (2017, 2022).
